Terms of Service

Last updated: February 2026

Important Disclaimer

Vidar is an automated code health scanning tool, not a penetration test or comprehensive security audit. Scans may not detect all vulnerabilities. Professional security services are recommended to supplement Vidar scans.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Vidar (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users, visitors, and others who access the Service.

2. Service Description

Vidar is an automated code health scanning platform that analyzes GitHub repositories and provides a health score across multiple dimensions including security, reliability, scalability, maintainability, and best practices. Results are presented in plain English for non-technical users. The Service requires read-only access to your GitHub repositories to perform scans.

3. Authorization to Scan

By submitting a repository for scanning, you represent and warrant that you have the legal right and authority to authorize Vidar to access and analyze the repository code. You must only scan repositories that you own or have explicit permission to scan. Vidar accesses repositories using read-only permissions granted through GitHub OAuth and does not modify your code.

4. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vidar and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.

5. No Guarantee of Results

Vidar provides automated code analysis on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that scans will identify all vulnerabilities, bugs, or issues in your code. Scan results are informational and should not be considered a substitute for professional security audits, penetration testing, or manual code reviews. You are solely responsible for the security and quality of your code.

6. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Vidar and its operators, employees, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to: scan repositories you do not own or have permission to scan; attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems; reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service; use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose; or interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service.

8. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. All provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including ownership, warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion. By continuing to use the Service after revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
